On Wednesday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. the University of Charleston Concert Choir and University Singers will present a program of choral music at During the 7-2-9 program at The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church. The program will feature secular and sacred works by composers including Alan Pote, Henry Purcell, Richard Proulx, Jans Sweelinck, Henry Leck and many more. The 19-voice chamber choir is conducted by Dr. Joseph Janisch.
Dr. Joseph Janisch is the Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at the University of Charleston in Charleston, WV where he conducts the Concert Choir and University Singers and teaches courses in music and the humanities. Dr. Janisch received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Ohio State University, a Master of Music degree from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Ashland (Ohio) University.
Janet M. Brightbill, the accompanist for the groups, has been an accompanist, piano teacher, and church pianist for many years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Charleston. While at UC, Janet studied piano with Catherine Walker. Presently, she teaches piano at Bible Center Christian School and is a piano instructor at the University of Charleston.
