SEPTEMBER 11 – Welcome Back Sunday

9:00 am – Faith and Action. How do we offer “God’s inclusive welcome” to our guests in the Radcliffe Room and in worship? Betsy Merritt and Phil Telfeyan will tell us about preparing and serving breakfast or working in the clothes closet, and something we all can do -- coming by for a few minutes and share stories with our guests. 9:00 am – Children and Youth Sunday School begins
9:00 am – Meeting for Parents of Children and Youth
11:30 am - Congregational Lunch. As we return from summer and begin fall programming, let’s gather for a meal! Come to the Radcliffe Room after worship for a light lunch hosted by the Congregational Nurture and Learning Committee. We’ll provide some sandwiches or wraps. Bring finger foods and treats to share, if you can, or just come to enjoy company and conversation.

SEPTEMBER 18

9:00 am – Faith and Action. The Day Center and NYAPC: Retrospective and Future Opportunities. Three years ago, a partnership between NYAPC, the Downtown BID, and the city culminated with the opening of the Day Service Center for the Homeless in the park level of our building. Join a conversation with Debra Kilpatrick Byrd, the Center’s Director of Homeless Services, to hear how six days a week the Center offers hospitality and support services to folks living on the DC streets. 11:30 am– First Sunday FaithTalk. One of our congregation’s core values is Radical Hospitality. Our strategic plan states: "We offer God's inclusive welcome, inspired by Jesus' ministry and empowered by God's Spirit to provide all a safe place and a spiritual home.” We’ll talk about the Christian practice of hospitality at church, and in our lives. Led by Paul Gebhard. For this first FaithTalk of the fall season, we'll meet after worship. Future sessions will return to the 5 pm time.
