Keynote by Dr. Edna Greene Medford, Professor and Chair of History, Howard University; Actor Kevin McIlvaine will portray Frederick Douglass, interpreting some of his greatest speeches on behalf of the aspirations of black Americans; neighbor pastors will discuss the role of their historic churches in the struggle for civil rights in nineteenth century Washington, Rev. William Lamar of Metropolitan AME and Rev. Robert Bell of Fifteenth Street Presbyterian; hymns and music from a three-church blended choir under Dr. Stan Engebretson at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church.
