“Faith and Lincoln’s Case for Emancipation,” August 16, Friday, 12 p.m.

John O’Brien will discuss President Lincoln, his New York Avenue church pastor, Phineas Gurley, and how their relationship shaped Lincoln’s views on the Emancipation Proclamation.  At the Cosmos Club, near the Dupont Circle Metro stop.
