Worship is at the very center of what we do together in community: expressing our thanks, asking God for forgiveness, learning about our faith, and sharing our joys and concerns. Our worshiping community gathers to hear, read and interpret God’s living word.
I. The Community Gathers for Worship
We celebrate with music, scripture, and prepare ourselves for worship by confessing our personal and corporate sins.
II. The Community Hears the Word of God
We hear lessons from the Old and New Testaments, hear the children’s message, and hear our pastors interpret the scripture in a brief sermon which uses traditional and contemporary interpretation.
III. The Community Responds to the Word
We return gifts and offerings, pray for ourselves and for the world, share our joys and concerns, and hear the pastors commission us to ministry.
At NYAPC we use a variety of music, from traditional protestant hymns to gospel to jazz.
The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated every first Sunday of the month, Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve.
