CITY-WIDE ACTION for JOBS AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING
DECEMBER 5th, 2011
Join WIN leaders in demanding our elected officials rededicate funds to our communities and create work now! We demand that by January 2012 our elected officials:
-Dedicate half of the $90 million budget surplus to:
*Restoring the Housing Production Trust Fund
*Restoring the Neighborhood Investment Fund
*Restoring the Baseball Community Benefits Fund
-Out of these restored community investment funds, create 375 public work jobs & 500 youth internships.
-Dedicate projected increases in tax revenue to creating jobs and affordable housing
-Establish a workforce intermediary for all publicly subsidized development projects.
WHEN: December 5th, 2011–7pm – 9pm
WHERE: Metropolitan AME Church – 1518 M St. NW (METRO: Farragut North)
WHO: 2,000 leaders from WIN member institutions who will demand that jobs and affordable housing be at the top of the agenda for the leaders of the city.
Mayor Vincent Gray & Chairman Kwame Brown have been invited. Several DC Council members have confirmed.
