Rev. Rami Al-Maqdasi, from September 28 to October 3, 2016. On Sunday, October 2, World Communion Sunday,Rev. Al-Maqdasi will attend both worship services at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. He will lead an Adult Christian Education class at 10:00 a.m. entitled “Christians Living in the Midst of Violence.” After the 11:00 a.m. worship service at 12:15 p.m., Rev. Al-Maqdasi will be hosted by the Peace & Justice Committee at a reception/luncheon in the Radcliffe Room where he will give another presentation and give an opportunity to discuss the war and refugee situation in Iraq and Syria.
Rev. Al-Maqdasi is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Syria and Lebanon where was a pastor at the Syrian Church in Southern Damascus. Rami ’s ministry has included serving as the Director of Syrian Refugees Ministry with Samaritans Purse, overseeing the distribution of food and clothing to refugees of war in Erbil, Iraq. In the past 10 years Rami worked with Operation Blessing, the Alliance Church in Syria and Iraq and Crisis Response International to provide translation services for refugees and people displaced by war and unrest in the region. He is a 2010 graduate of the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo, Egypt
Rev. Al-Maqdasi is working part time at Wayside Presbyterian Church in Hamburg, NY, as their Pastoral Assistant, Rami also keeps busy with a grant that was awarded to him from the Presbyterian Mission Agency of the General Assembly, PC (USA). This grant, along with Rami’s tireless help, contributes to the support of refugees in the Buffalo area.
