Sermon Preparation, Peter Marshall-Style

Mary Wood, who was Peter Marshall's Secretary, recounts how the great minister of the New York Avenue Church during the 1930s and 40s prepared his sermons.  His office was on the top floor of a two story annex adjoining the old church.  There was a spiral staircase that led down from his office to Mary's office below.  He would draft his sermons page by page.  When a page was completed, he would drop it down the staircase.  Mary would pick up each sheet and type it into a finished product.
